{"id":11,"date":"2007-10-11T18:54:14","date_gmt":"2007-10-12T01:54:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.brunerd.com\/blog\/2007\/10\/11\/mac-pro-10410-autonegotiation-woes\/"},"modified":"2007-10-11T19:06:58","modified_gmt":"2007-10-12T02:06:58","slug":"mac-pro-10410-autonegotiation-woes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brunerd.com\/blog\/2007\/10\/11\/mac-pro-10410-autonegotiation-woes\/","title":{"rendered":"Mac Pro 10.4.10 AutoNegotiation Woes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In case you didn&#8217;t know, MacPro&#8217;s with 10.4.10 are connecting at 10Mb speeds to 1000Mb switches and hubs&#8230; bummer :(<\/p>\n<p>So a kext is the culprit:<br \/>\n\/System\/Library\/Extensions\/IONetworkingFamily.kext\/<br \/>\nContents\/PlugIns\/AppleIntel8254XEthernet.kext<\/p>\n<p>In 10.4.9 it&#8217;s version is 1.1.7a3, in 10.4.10 it is 1.1.8a2, in 10.4.11 it is 1.1.8a6<br \/>\nThat doesn&#8217;t matter much really, but that&#8217;s the details.<\/p>\n<p>So you gotta roll back the kext:<br \/>\n1. Get the 10.4.9 Intel Combo Updater<br \/>\n2. Get OpenUp or Pacifist<br \/>\n3. Open the DMG<br \/>\n4. Show contents on the PKG<br \/>\n5. Copy out the pax.gz file to the desktop<br \/>\n6. un-Gzip the pax, and open that up (with Pacifist or OpenUp)<br \/>\n7. Get the old IONetworkingFamily.kext<br \/>\n8.
